In the Grass

Book 2 begins as the clouds over Ravenshill darken with the threat of more war and choices that must be made.

The men Elisabeth Kirkham sent to fight in the 100 Years War have returned to Ravenshill. As another war closes in, Henry Beaufort, Earl of Dorset, returns to Ravenshill and sets off a firestorm of desire and betrayal that rocks the foundation of Elisabeth’s world.

Adrian de Ros, Earl of Helmsley, knows there is only one woman he loves, and his wife is not her. He will go to great lengths to secure a future for Elisabeth, even if it means a marriage to another man. But when he finds she has not only pledged Ravenshill’s fighting men to King Henry VI but given herself to the commander of the Queen’s army, he finds himself unable to hold to the tether that kept him and Elisabeth together.

As battles rage between the forces of King Henry and Richard, Duke of York, Elisabeth finds not only security in the arms of Henry Beaufort but all of Ravenshill benefits from his wealth and power. Imbittered by his marriage and disillusioned by war, Adrian finds it hard to come to terms with being enemies with the people of Ravenshill.

What will happen to Ravenshill if King Henry loses his crown? As the tides turn, will Elisabeth seek out Adrian, or will the tie be severed forever?

At the Door

As Book 3 begins, the Wars of the Roses is raging, and the people of Ravenshill are starving.

Elisabeth Kirkham struggles to keep her people fed, and the walls secure around them, but she feels it slipping from her grasp. They have one chance left, and though it will place them center stage in front of their enemies, it is a risk she is willing to take.

When Adrien de Ros sees the House of Ravenshill join the tournament circuit, he knows things have grown dire for Elisabeth and her family. Imbittered by the war and a loveless marriage, he vows Elisabeth will be his. But the past is hard to relinquish, and old hurts cannot be so easily overcome. But Adrien knows somewhere, the two children who were lost long ago, can find themselves once they are together again.

But forgotten enemies arrive on English soil, and Ravenshill is in grave danger. Will Adrien finally be able to save Ravenshill and his beloved Elisabeth or will the small castle fall forever?

The great tower of Ravenshill was a safe beacon for Lady Elisabeth Kirkham. It is her home, and she would do anything to preserve it. But its ancient walls hide dark secrets.
Soon, she will discover far more dangerous things lurking just outside the walls. Things that devour eleven-year-olds like Elisabeth.
The young earl, Adrian de Ros, dreams that his name will be a legend one day. If only the knight he fosters with would take him to France and join in King Henry’s fight for the French crown. But he will soon learn not all battles are fought in war.
As one child is pulled farther from her home, the other struggles to bring her back. But can the crumbling walls of Ravenshill survive what comes next? Can the children navigate the treacherous waters ahead as England is bloodied by war, and its people must choose — York or Lancaster.

The Dead King

A powerful historical trilogy about the human will to survive, as a family is torn apart by war, and struggles to find one another again.

The year is 1066. The Duke of Normandy has arrived on English soil, quickly quashing any uprising from the native Saxons and wresting the crown from King Harold.

The men of Tresche are a strong Saxon family. Made up mostly of bastards, the men are warriors from the moment they are old enough to hold a wooden sword in their tiny hands. Nothing could prepare them for the army of Duke William, and nothing could prepare them for the losses they suffered at the Battle of Hastings. They are left with only their memories of the past as they embark on a journey to bring the shattered pieces of their lives and their family back together.

2.

The Pretend King

A battle for a crown leads a woman down a dark and desperate path in the second part of this heartbreaking trilogy.

The battleground at Hastings has fallen quiet. The only sound that is heard over the murders of her surviving countrymen is the voice of her brother, “Run!”

Ash flees as the life she knows is ripped from her. She must find a way to survive as the army of Duke William spreads like a plague across England. Will she ever see her brothers again? What will be left of their home once William is crowned?

3.

The Queen's Kings

In the final book of the family’s long journey, the fight has just begun.

Duke William is now King of England, but the English will not rest until they have pushed him off English soil. To secure his place under the Crown, King William sends his troops to begin the Harrying of the North. Among his arsenal is the man who has become known as the Devil’s Hand. He and his army leave nothing but death and destruction in their wake as they do the King’s bidding. King William put a great deal of time into creating his perfect killing machine and believes the mighty House of Tresche will try to reclaim him. He knows the brother will serve as perfect bait to bring the rest of the family under his control once again.

As the battleground at Hastings quieted, only one member of the House of Tresche was free. Now there is only one of them left under William’s thumb, and his family wants him back. It is no longer a battle for the Crown, but one for a family torn apart by war. Will the mighty House of Tresche succeed in freeing Roan? Or is it too late to save the man once known as Roan the Fearless?

The Norman Invasion Trilogy

Her life has turned into a nightmare. Her wedding is nearing, and Crystal is petrified of the future she sees lurking around the corner. Keith Deane is a dashing young man with cold eyes and a colder heart. If a future with Keith isn’t terrifying enough, sharing a life with his mother and sisters is. Her attempt to remove herself from the engagement has dire consequences.

As war nears, Kentucky and its citizens find themselves caught in the middle. With fine horseflesh and a lifetime of experience in the saddle, Crystal’s cousin Bobby is convinced war will bring him glory. He joins the cavalry led by John Morgan and settles into the life and chivalry of a cavalryman.

For Crystal, war brings destruction, death, hunger, and hope. She is faced with a life she could never imagine. The price she must pay is high. Crystal loses herself and the life she had known so she can survive the present. Her future has no place in this new world that sweeps across the land.

As the war wears on, reality sets in, and the horrors begin to haunt those who survive. Justin is a member of Morgan’s cavalry, and he knows the war is turning against the South. His endless nights and days are haunted by the past and fear for the future.

Destruction spreads, and lives are lost as the Civil War rages. Supplies diminish, and the haggard armies continue pushing through the battles, hunger, and illnesses. After years of tenacious fighting, can the darkened souls of the survivors find peace?
